It’s so easy to get wrapped up in big life changes. To be swept away at sea. I sit at the pier near Fort Point. A place where soldiers were ready for war, but luckily war never came to them. Seals bob up and down with the swelling of the tides. Spy glassing what may be in the future. A woman standing close to waters edge yelps as a harsher wave meets the land. It surprises her with a watery welcome of the Pacific Ocean. She runs closer to Max (the dog) and I in shock. With laughter I tell her she has been officially welcomed. She laughs with us as the shock subsides. We sit on the bench, as people, dogs, and birds pass by. This is life.

When we think a war is coming, it’s best to be prepared. But we all know, nobody really wants to fight. We go with the flow. Changes come and go. Sometimes, we are surprised. We shut our eyes tight. We hold on tight. But when we open our eyes again, and realize we are okay… well it’s okay. It’s actually better than what we thought.
