Prompt – Do you need time?

The two most powerful warriors are patience and time. -Leo Tolstoy

One thing about time is, if we’re lucky, the clock will keep ticking for as long as we need it to. When we’re ready to leave this earth, we want time to stop—and hopefully, it will, just at the perfect moment. There’s a time to stay and be present, but there is also a time to go. In moments of pain and sorrow, we sometimes look at the clock, hardly able to endure another moment. In times of joy and love, we wish a situation would last forever.

No matter who you are, at some point in your life, you will experience both sides of this coin. Take time to breathe. To look within. Spend moments with others who share your outlook on life in general. Protect your inner peace by trusting that everything unfolds in its own time—and that, with time, you can face any challenge. Time is a gift, and you can use it as you see fit. It can be to your benefit or, if squandered, to your disadvantage. This is a choice we make every day.

With so many songs about time, this morning one song in particular came to mind by The Chambers Brothers.

Time Has Come Today

Time has come today

Young hearts can go their way

Can’t put it off another day

I don’t care what others say

They say we don’t listen anyway

Time has come today

(Hey)

Oh

The rules have changed today (Hey)

I have no place to stay (Hey)

I’m thinking about the subway (Hey)

My love has flown away (Hey)

My tears have come and gone (Hey)

Oh my Lord, I have to roam (Hey)

I have no home (Hey)

I have no home (Hey)

Now the time has come (Time)

There’s no place to run (Time)

I might get burned up by the sun (Time)

But I had my fun (Time)

I’ve been loved and put aside (Time)

I’ve been crushed by the tumbling tide (Time)

And my soul has been psychedelicized (Time)

Now the time has come (Time)

There are things to realize (Time)

Time has come today (Time)

Time has come today (Time)

Time

Time

Time

Time

Time

Time

Time

Time

Time

Time

Time

Oh

Now the time has come (Time)

There’s no place to run (Time)

I might get burned up by the sun (Time)

But I had my fun (Time)

I’ve been loved and put aside (Time)

I’ve been crushed by tumbling tide (Time)

And my soul has been psychedelicized (Time)

Now the time has come (Time)

There are things to realize (Time)

Time has come today (Time)

Time has come today (Time)

Time

Time

Time

Time

The Chamber Brothers

Today, I’m choosing to balance time spent in solitude and time spent with others. If someone isn’t on the same page as you today, consider giving both them and yourself time. After all, time is available to everyone, to use at their own discretion. While we may not be able to control the happenings around the world, we can always choose how to spend our own time.
