Recently, I overheard someone say that joy comes in flashes, like seeing fireflies at night—glimmers of light in the dark, or a flash of insight on an ordinary day. As mundane as walking the dog in the morning may seem, I experienced such a moment today when my dog snuck up on a group of unsuspecting finches. Or perhaps they were playing along, just a little. In unison, the finches flew away, while Max, my dog, proudly jaunted up the hill, wagging his tail. A neighbor, noticing the scene, smiled as I laughed in delight at Max’s little triumph.
Just a morning thought: joy comes in the little moments, when we take notice.
Where will you find it today?
