In this mornings tarot read, I pulled two Judgement cards from the same vintage tarot deck. I had no idea there were two Judgement cards in this hoi polloi vintage tarot deck that I bought last year in St. Petersburg, Florida until today! The double judgement, was met with the World tarot card. This was fitting for the energetic themes of this week.

What in the world is going on this week in terms of judgement?

There is a strange energy in the air. Dogs attacking dogs. People on edge, defensives are heightened for everyone it seems. Most Americans are sicker than ever. There isn’t enough money, and there is never enough time. The world is unfair. Everyone looks out for themselves, and sometimes it feels like nobody looks out for one another anymore. An olive branch is met with gas and fire. In some scenarios, there is no support because others have their own agendas in mind. Leading to competition instead of community. The helping hand falls on deaf ears.

With wars happening all around us on many scales, we have a propensity to create wars within. Positivity is met with negativity, which logically would go against natural law. But for some, this natural depression leaves them only knowing how to stay down.

This is dark. It doesn’t feel good. It is nauseating. So what do we do about this?

The Philosophy-

In stoicism, it’s all about what we can control in situations beyond our control. But we might wonder how this works. Because sometimes it’s like you’re walking along minding our own business happy go lucky, and then get thrown into a spin cycle beyond our control. The world is shook, leaving you dizzy. So you ride it out, and patiently wait for the refocus. Because the only option left is to pause and wait for the refocus.

Much like this little Jellyfish, minding their own business and then boom… 🫨😵‍💫.

Taking a step back, we find steady ground. Remembering that nobody can make anybody else happy. People can only change what isn’t working for them… themselves. We are all the drivers of our own cars. The only item we can control is knowing how to respond. Knowing when to support, and knowing when to take a step back.

A multitude of external stimuli reflecting negativity, sadness, and anger in can be overwhelming. Human beings aren’t meant to absorb these things in heavy doses. The stimuli can and will degrade you just as the waves of the stormy seas degrade that of stone. It is up to us whether we are going to be taken out by force, or to go with the flow and find a way to survive.

Not responding is a response.

It is okay to turn off the news. Turn off the texts. Turn off the TV. Turn off the mind. Sweat it out. Eat a nourishing meal, and call it a day. Because those are the matters that you can control.

It is about knowing when you are too hyper-focused on the dirt on the ground, rather than the sun that shines above.

Knowing this… we start to relax our shoulders, and breathe a little deeper than we did before. Not realizing that prior to this knowledge, our shoulders were up to our ears, and we were holding your breath.

In end… and bringing it together with the tarot now!

Double judgement is all about knowing how to judge our daily actions. Knowing what it is that we can control. Knowing whether to fight for something, and when to go with the flow. Knowing our responses are up to us and nobody else. The heart of judgement isn’t about judging others, but judging how we respond. How we take care of ourselves, and how we keep our peace.
