Last night while watching Love is Blind, the Swedish edition… I had a total Peg Bundy Bon Bon moment.

Peggy Bundy in Married with Children (a strong resemblance of me last night!)

One Belgian chocolate from Trader Joe’s turned into two, three, four… so on and so forth. And at lucky number seven, the box was gone. Was I sorry for the indulgence? Absolutely not.

Available at Trader Joe’s!

Now hear me out. I think once in a while, a Peg Bundy Bon Bon moment is highly necessary for self care. You do it every night, and you might have to buy a bigger pair of jeans. But, as we approach Valentine’s Day, I think it’s good to remember a little self care goes a long way.

Some might celebrate with friends, or with a partner… but why not celebrate yourself?

As Ru Paul says,

“If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?”

After all, it all starts with you. If we neglect ourselves then we can’t show up for others.

Take that bath, have a martini, glass of wine, or cup of tea. Eat the chocolate or the cake or whatever it is that brings you joy when you really want it. Get in a good sweat. Get that pedicure. Rest when you need to. And for heavens sake don’t just do it for the sake of Valentine’s Day. Make it a habit, and make it happen from time to time.

After all, who wants to die wishing they really had tried those chocolates or whatever else it was that they really wanted.

Life is worth living, no?
